TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the construction of toll road infrastructure leading to the strategic Lake Toba area, North Sumatra. One project nearing completion is the 12.3-kilometer Sinaksak-Pematang Siantar toll road segment.
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that this segment is part of the 28-kilometer Serbelawan-Pematang Siantar portion of the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road Section 4. The Sinaksak-Pematang Siantar segment is targeted for completion by the third quarter of 2025.
"As of the end of June 2025, construction progress has reached 99.19 percent and is currently undergoing a Road Safety Audit (AKJ) as the final stage before operation," Dody said in a written statement on Sunday, July 13, 2025
Dody explained that the toll road aims to improve regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth. "This toll road will reduce travel time and logistics costs, and also open up opportunities for new economic centers along its route," Dody added.
This segment will complete the overall 136.8-kilometer Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road. It is being built under a Government-Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme by PT Hutama Marga Waskita, the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT).
Dody conveyed that the toll road is expected to not only strengthen connectivity but also drive economic growth and boost the tourism sector in North Sumatra, particularly in the Lake Toba area, which has been designated a national priority destination.
