Starting with a fee of only US$400,000 for Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson is now the highest-grossing actor thanks to her films. After successfully starring in four Avengers films, Lucy, and now Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson has accumulated a total box office revenue of US$14.8 billion. Her role as Zora Bennett in Universal's latest dinosaur film became the turning point that propelled Johansson to the top of Hollywood's ladder.
2. Samuel L. Jackson - US$14.6 Billion
Although Johansson has surpassed him, Samuel L. Jackson still stands tall in second place. With more than 70 films, from Jurassic Park to his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Jackson remains one of the most productive and popular figures on the big screen. He is also still actively involved in future Marvel projects.
3. Robert Downey Jr. - US$14.3 Billion
The Iron Man star brought home fantastic figures through a series of Marvel films, including Iron Man, Avengers, and Captain America: Civil War. Even though his role in the MCU is over, Robert Downey Jr. still ranks third in the top highest-grossing Hollywood actors.
4. Zoe Saldana - US$14.2 Billion
The other female name in the top five highest-grossing Hollywood actors is Zoe Saldana. The star of Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star Trek is compelling evidence that involvement in major franchises can dramatically boost a career and income. She is one of the leading female actors in blockbuster films.
5. Chris Pratt - US$14.1 Billion
Chris Pratt's career took off with Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, and The Lego Movie. In the past 10 years, he has transformed from a sitcom comedian to a true box office star, with his total film revenue reaching US$14.1 billion. His presence in two major franchises has made him one of the most bankable faces in Hollywood today.
Although the above names are the top five highest-grossing Hollywood actors of all time, the list of the highest-paid actors this year, according to Forbes, is slightly different. In 2024, Dwayne Johnson became the highest-earning actor, bringing in US$88 million, followed by Ryan Reynolds (US$85 million), Kevin Hart (US$81 million), Jerry Seinfeld (US$60 million), and Hugh Jackman (US$50 million). Johnson notably pocketed a fantastic fee through his film agreement for Red One with Amazon.
