From Africa to Europe, Here Are 28 Countries Locked in for 2026 World Cup

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As of October 2025, 28 nations have officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the conclusion of the latest international match days.

The tournament, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico next June and July, has seen ten new countries earn their tickets during this international break.

The newly qualified teams come from Africa, Asia, and Europe. From Africa (CAF), seven teams topped their respective groups to secure automatic qualification: Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Senegal. Notably, Cape Verde will make its World Cup debut in 2026.

In Asia (AFC), Saudi Arabia and Qatar booked their spots after finishing first in their groups during the final round of qualifying. Meanwhile, England became the first European (UEFA) nation to qualify, finishing Group K with a perfect record of six wins in six matches, amassing 18 points—a feat no other team in the group could match.

These ten teams join 18 nations that had previously secured their places. The three host nations—the United States, Canada, and Mexico—qualified automatically.

From Asia, Japan, Australia, Iran, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and Jordan had already secured their spots, with Uzbekistan and Jordan making their World Cup debuts. In South America (CONMEBOL), Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, and Paraguay had already qualified.

Africa had earlier seen Morocco and Tunisia secure their tickets, while Oceania was represented by New Zealand.
