TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A massive fire tore through three two-story homes in a residential complex on Pademangan Raya Street, Pademangan District, North Jakarta. Fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at about 03:55 a.m. local time.

According to a release from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat Jakarta) Command Center on Wednesday, the affected houses were semi-permanent structures.

A total of 50 personnel and 11 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene at 04:00 a.m. The firefighting process took about an hour, with the fire completely extinguished around 05:17 a.m.

According to the firefighters, the fire was triggered because "the homeowner was burning copper" when the fire "spread to styrofoams located next to the house."

The fire rapidly grew in intensity due to the gusts brought by passing trains near the settlement. Subsequently, the fire spread to neighboring houses, increasing the number of affected homes.

As a result of the incident, four residents lost their lives, as confirmed by officers.

The Head of the Pademangan municipal police (Satpol PP), Asromadian AB, said that one of the deceased was pregnant at the time. "The casualties include SN (55), who was pregnant - SM (20), as well as two children, AS (11) and UD (2)," he conveyed, as reported by Antara.

The Head of Data and Information Center at the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Mohamad Yohan, estimated the fire-related losses to be tens of millions of rupiah. Yohan said, "The total material losses are estimated at Rp63.2 million."
