Prabowo Promises Bintang Mahaputera Honor for Police Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has stated that he will confer the Mahaputera Star (Bintang Mahaputera) honor on National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The head of state revealed this intention during a speech at the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of the Polri Food Security Center (SPPG) and Food Security Warehouse in Palmerah Police Station, West Jakarta.

Prabowo initially addressed the role of the National Police and the Indonesian National Defense Forces as crucial pillars of the nation. He mentioned that both security and defense institutions have demonstrated achievements and dedication in the field, even with sacrifices.

"Some have fallen in carrying out their duties. Today, the National Police have shown a very important role," he said, referring to the police's involvement in food security and nutrition matters.

Therefore, Prabowo felt the need to give special recognition to the police leadership. On this occasion, Prabowo, through Presidential Decrees Number 12 and 13, conferred honors on several senior police officials.

These include Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, who received the Order of Distinguished Stars (Bintang Jasa Utama). Also, the Inspector General of Police (Irwasum) Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, who also represented four other recipients, was awarded the Bintang Jasa Nararya honor. The Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri and the Chief of the North Sumatra Police Inspector General Wisnu Hermawan, received similar honors.

"The National Police Chief has not received it yet, because he (Listyo Sigit) will get an even higher honor later," said Prabowo.

Prabowo believes that the four-star police general is deserving of the Bintang Mahaputera honor. "Earlier, I asked, have you received the Bintang Mahaputera? Not yet. Well, I will be the one granting it," said the former Commander of the Indonesian Special Forces (Kopassus).

According to Prabowo, awarding honors to his subordinates is both a source of happiness and an expression of gratitude. He stated that he is not just a leader in the cabinet, but also a father.

Additionally, during the inauguration of SPPG and the Polri Food Security Warehouse, Prabowo also conferred honors on the leaders of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, received the Bintang Jasa Utama honor, while three Deputy Heads of BGN were awarded the Bintang Jasa Pratama honor.

The head of state also bestowed the Satya Lencana Wirakarya honor on 58 fishermen, represented by Zaini Sidi. "Satya Lencana Wirakarya is an acknowledgement of their enormous contribution to the nation and the people, setting an example for others," as stated in a copy of the Presidential Decree.
