TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto admitted to being asked about Indonesia's readiness to send peacekeeping forces to Palestine by the key mediator of the Gaza peace. The mediators are the United States, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and other countries involved with Palestine. Prabowo stated that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping forces.

"They asked about Indonesia's readiness, and we said we are ready; if peacekeeping forces are requested, Indonesia is ready," he said at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The Indonesian government is currently discussing the details of the aid shipment to Gaza. Prabowo said that the discussions are still complicated and not easy. However, he stated that they will begin working on it.

"We are now going to discuss the details. This is still complicated, not easy. But yes, we are starting to work on it," he said.

The day before, Prabowo witnessed the signing of the Gaza peace agreement at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace High-Level Conference at the International Congress Center in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The former Defense Minister claimed that the Indonesian government has always been asked to support the peace process in Gaza. Prabowo personally claimed to have long supported Palestinian independence.

"My determination, for decades I have defended Palestine, for decades since I was young, we have continuously supported the independence of Palestine, the Palestinian people," he said.

The Indonesian government, according to Prabowo, has also been actively providing aid, ships, and Hercules aircraft. According to Prabowo, this aid has been noticed by the Palestinian and Middle Eastern populations.

"Indonesia has been active all this time. We send aid, we send ships, we send Hercules multiple times. I think the Palestinian and Middle Eastern populations see Indonesia's commitment," said Prabowo.

In addition to this aid, the government has also sent food aid and thousands of tons of rice. Prabowo said the Indonesian government is committed to supporting the Palestinian people.

"We also send a significant amount of food aid, thousands of tons of rice. We continue to commit to support this," he said.

Prabowo returned to the homeland after attending the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace High-Level Conference at the International Congress Center, Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday, October 13, 2025. The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the Head of State landed around 2:45 PM at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

On the previous Monday, Prabowo, along with other heads of state, witnessed the signing of the peace agreement. The document was signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Prabowo's presence at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace High-Level Conference reaffirmed Indonesia's strong commitment to creating peace in conflicts and advocating for humanity on a global level. Before the heads of state departed for Egypt, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that Indonesia received an invitation to the Gaza peace conference on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

"The invitation requested President Prabowo's willingness to attend because it is part of the continuation of negotiations that hopefully, God willing, can bring peace in Palestine, especially in Gaza," said Prasetyo after a meeting at Prabowo's residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta, October 12, 2025. Prasetyo said that President Prabowo had requested that all parties maintain good relations, and for that reason, he decided to attend the invitation.
