TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - WhatsApp has officially launched its Message Summary feature in Indonesia, offering users an easier way to catch up on missed conversations. The feature is now fully available in Bahasa Indonesia.
Powered by Meta AI’s Private Processing technology, Message Summary automatically generates secure conversation summaries that are visible only to the user. WhatsApp underlined that neither the company nor its parent firm, Meta, can access these summaries.
The feature aims to help users navigate situations where they might lose track of group chats or personal messages, such as after long meetings, during flights, or when returning to dozens of unread notifications.
With the help of Meta’s AI system, users can get a quick overview of their unread messages without scrolling through every line, all while maintaining privacy.
The company described the tool as a way for users to “grasp the essence of a conversation at a glance” before diving into the full message thread.
WhatsApp noted that Message Summary is optional and turned off by default. Users can decide whether to enable it and configure the settings under Advanced Chat Privacy, selecting which conversations can be summarized by AI.
