2025 U-23 AFF Cup: Indonesia to Host Matches at SUGBK and Patriot Stadiums

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has officially been announced as the host of the 2025 U-23 AFF Cup to be played from July 13-31. As cited from PSSI's (Football Association of Indonesia) official website on Saturday, April 19, 2025, 12 countries will join the 2025 U-23 AFF Cup, divided into three groups, and the group stage draw will take place in Jakarta on Friday, May 30, 2025.

PSSI has chosen Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta and Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi as the 2025 U-23 AFF Cup venues. In the previous U-23 AFF Cup held in Thailand, Indonesia had to settle for second place after losing on penalties to Vietnam in the final match.

Meanwhile, the Qualifiers for the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup will be played from September 1st to 9th. PSSI has submitted a bidding proposal as the host and prepared Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo, East Java, as the venue.

AFC will decide the host for the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers by the end of April, and the draw process will be conducted in June.

The 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers will consist of several groups, each containing four to five teams. The 2026 U-23 Asian Cup final round will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7th to 25th, 2026. The Indonesian U-23 national team, coached by Gerald Vanenburg, will make thorough preparations for the best results in the event.

In addition to these two tournaments, PSSI has also submitted a bid to host the ASEAN U16 Girls Championship 2025 and the Qualifiers for the 2026 U-17 Women's Asian Cup. PSSI is preparing Semarang, Kudus, and Pati to host the ASEAN U-16 Girls Championship 2025, while Kudus will be the venue for the 2026 U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers.
