TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Ismail, said that he and the legislative body have agreed to release a four-hectare government-owned land for the construction of 500 units of permanent housing for the flood victims. The land is located in Bundar Village, Karang Baru Subdistrict.
"The land release has been agreed upon. The construction will be promptly started by the Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation, so the land must be quickly prepared," Ismail said on Monday, December 29, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
According to Ismail, besides the land, they have proposed the release of the HGU (right to cultivate) land of a plantation company operating in the area, for both permanent and temporary housing. This was stated in a letter from the Regent of Aceh Tamiang with the reference number: Ist/42 regarding the request for the release of the Right to Cultivate (HGU) as relocation of temporary and permanent housing land, which has been submitted to the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning (ATR) in Jakarta.
The number of houses proposed by the Aceh Tamiang Regional Government is 8,155 units with an estimated land area of 262 hectares. "As far as I know, the proposal includes 14,000 units of permanent and temporary housing. But it will be approved in the new State Budget. Currently, what has been approved is around 500 units, and will be launched soon," Ismail said.
The decision to release the government-owned land was previously discussed in a plenary session of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRK) of Aceh Tamiang. "The conclusion of the plenary session regarding the land release in Bundar Village, Karang Baru Subdistrict, covering an area of approximately four hectares, has been determined to be used for 500 units of permanent housing," said Deputy Chair of DPRK Aceh Tamiang, Syaiful Bahri, on Monday.
Syaiful explained that the construction of permanent housing will be carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Area (PKP) using assistance funds from the Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation. "The plenary session earlier specifically discussed permanent housing, at the moment it's only one location, while temporary housing was not discussed," he said.
According to Syaiful, the plenary session to release the land for permanent housing is urgent in order to be enacted promptly. "So that flood victims can obtain decent permanent housing," he said.
