TEMPO.COJakarta - Comfort is a major concern for airplane passengers, especially during long flights. Some lucky passengers get ample legroom, while others may have to endure cramped conditions. There is a simple trick to get extra legroom during flights without having to pay extra fees.

As reported by Express, the additional fees for getting seats with more legroom usually range from 15 (around Rp 335,000) to 50 (Rp 1,117,500) for more spacious legroom.

More Spacious Legroom on the Right Side of the Aircraft

According to experts at Which? to get extra legroom for free, travelers can choose seats on the right side of the aircraft, labeled as D, E, or F, compared to the left side labeled as A, B, or C. Standard seats on the right side are available on various airlines, including Ryanair.

So if there's an option to choose seats for free 24 hours before departure, it's best to choose the right side with those labels. Furthermore, seats located in front of the bulkhead, along the emergency exit row, or at the back of the aircraft provide more legroom.

Legroom on Various Airlines

According to Sky News, passengers on Ryanair's Boeing 737-800 aircraft can enjoy 29.5 inches of legroom in seats D, E, and F in rows 3-15, compared to 29 inches in the same rows on the left side. Furthermore, they found that passengers on easyJet A321neo could obtain an extra inch of legroom on the right side.

Seats in D, E, and F in rows 3-17 on the right side have generous legroom, which is 29 inches, while seats on the left side between rows 30 and 40 only have 28 inches. Sky News also revealed that passengers on easyJet Airbus A320-214 could get an extra half inch of legroom on the right side in rows 14 to 29.

Checking Airline Legroom

However, if the airline you frequently use is not on the list, there are several ways to check this information yourself. First, check the types of aircraft used by the airline and find out the type of aircraft you will be flying. This information may be stated on the booking reference or on the airline's website.

Afterward, using AeroLOPA, an online portfolio of aircraft seat maps, check the type of aircraft you will be flying. Scroll to the bottom of the seat map to find information about seat dimensions and look for the seat pitch.
