TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto departed from Paris, France, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, local time, to return to Indonesia. His departure marked the conclusion of a series of official visits to several countries.
The President left from Orly Airport aboard the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft. Prior to his departure, he was formally seen off by the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone; Indonesia’s Ambassador to France, Muhammad Oemar; and the Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, First Marshal TNI Anang Surdwiyono.
A ceremonial farewell was also held by members of the French military honor guard. President Prabowo is expected to arrive in Indonesia later today. While in Paris, he attended the Bastille Day celebration on July 14, 2025, as a guest of honor. He became the first President of Indonesia to officially take part in the French National Day ceremony.
Prabowo also accepted a dinner invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. Before leaving Orly Airport, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the European visit had been highly productive.
During his stop in Belgium, Prabowo met with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council António Costa, and King Philippe of Belgium.
“In essence, a new chapter has begun in Belgium. After ten years of negotiations since 2016, a final agreement has been reached on the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA),” Teddy said at Orly Airport on July 15, 2025, as quoted in his official statement.
According to Teddy, the IEU-CEPA agreement will eliminate Indonesia’s export tariffs to European Union countries, which previously ranged from 10 to 20 percent. The agreement also opens opportunities for Indonesia to collaborate with 27 European nations with a combined population of 700 million.
“This marks the opening of the broadest possible cooperation between Indonesia and Europe across all sectors,” Teddy said.
