TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's State Intelligence Agency, commonly known as BIN, recently launched several official social media accounts on various platforms. This step was taken as part of a strategy to provide more transparent, accurate, and reliable information to the public.
The Deputy of Communication and Information at BIN, Idham Malik, stated that the launch of these social media accounts aims to bring BIN closer to the public within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
"The launch of these social media accounts is a strategic step for us, to get closer to the broader society within the framework of NKRI," said Idham at the official BIN accounts launch event on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
According to Idham, social media not only serves as a means to disseminate information, but also as a tool to prevent misinformation that could disrupt the country's stability.
The launch of BIN's social media accounts took place on March 18, 2025, and was attended by several important figures, including BIN and government officials. Idham Malik explained that BIN's presence in the digital world is a commitment of the institution to get closer to the public.
In this era of fast-paced information, misinformation and hoaxes often become serious issues. Therefore, one of the main goals of the official BIN social media accounts is to provide accurate literacy, prevent the spread of fake news, and combat information that could damage the unity of the nation.
Purpose of BIN's Social Media
Idham added that with these social media accounts, BIN hopes to interact more actively with the public. Social media is expected to be a platform that allows the public to convey aspirations, provide input, and engage in constructive discussions.
Additionally, BIN's presence in the virtual world is also a means to provide valuable information directly to the public and counter hoaxes that are often circulated on digital platforms. BIN wants to ensure that the public receives valid information, thereby minimizing potential disturbances to the sovereignty and integrity of NKRI.
"We hope that these social media accounts can become a more interactive communication channel and help us to continue to grow and provide the best," said Idham Malik.
Therefore, BIN is committed to using these platforms as a tool to educate the public about important issues related to national security and state stability.
Introduced Social Media Accounts of BIN
During the launch event, BIN introduced several official social media accounts on leading platforms. Some of the available accounts include Instagram (@officialbin_ri), YouTube (OfficialBIN_RI), Threads (@officialbin_ri), Twitter/X (@OfficialBIN_RI), and TikTok (OfficialBIN_RI).
The existence of these accounts is expected to reach various segments of society, from the younger generation to adults, who are active on various digital platforms. With BIN's presence on these platforms, the public can easily access relevant and up-to-date information about various BIN activities related to national security and state policies.
Idham Malik also urged the public to actively participate in using these social media accounts. With more transparent and open communication through social media, it is expected that the relationship between BIN and the public can be closer and mutually supportive.
"Let's use this platform to contribute to maintaining national security, strengthening communication, and participating in healthy and productive dialogue," said Idham.
Furthermore, Idham revealed that effective public communication is the key to building a transparent and accountable government. This is also in line with the expectations of the Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, who stated that the digitalization of public communication can create a more transparent and integrated government.
Nezar also mentioned that public communication plays a crucial role in disseminating government policies to the public, which in turn encourages the creation of a better government.
"Public communication has a central role in creating a transparent, accountable, and integral government," said Nezar on Friday, March 7, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
