TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta will experience heavier rainfall compared to other parts of Jakarta today, Monday, December 29th, 2025, according to the weather forecast from Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). BMKG predicts moderate intensity rain in South Jakarta today.
Meanwhile, other parts of Jakarta are expected to have light rain today, according to BMKG. These areas include East Jakarta, Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Thousand Islands. Light rain is defined as less than 20 mm per day, while moderate rain is between 20-50 mm.
There is a varied potential for rain in the vicinity of Jakarta today. BMKG's forecast indicates that South Tangerang City, similar to South Jakarta, is expected to experience moderate rain. However, Bogor and Depok may experience even higher rainfall along with thunderstorms.
In contrast, Bekasi and Tangerang areas are predicted to have light rain throughout the day, similar to most parts of Jakarta.
In the Weekly Weather Outlook for the period of December 26th, 2025 - January 1st, 2026, BMKG disclosed several factors that affect the weather conditions in Indonesia. This includes a combination of weak La Nina and cold surge from the Asian continent.
However, BMKG did not include Jakarta in the list of areas on high alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall or strong winds during the period, which coincides with the year-end holiday season.
