TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soldiers have visited Nurhidayat three times at the Bangunharjo Village Office, Sewon District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, since November 2025. The Bangunharjo village head was asked by village supervisory non-commissioned officers and representatives of Military District Command 0729/Bantul to provide land for the construction of a red-and-white village cooperative.
According to Nurhidayat, the soldiers said the land had to be made available immediately because a new cooperative building must be completed this year. "We are being rushed," he said in Bantul on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
In response, Nurhidayat offered the Bantul district military representatives a village cooperative unit building located next to the Military Rayon Command 04/Sewon headquarters. The building is still in good condition, having recently been renovated with Rp 160 million (US$ 9,500) in village funds.
Nurhidayat had renovated the old cooperative building to welcome President Prabowo Subianto's red-and-white cooperative program. The village government also borrowed Rp 386 million (US$ 22,900) from the Revolving Fund Management Institution for Cooperatives as initial capital.
However, the Bantul district military representatives rejected the offer, saying the old building did not meet government specifications. The criteria include standing on at least 1,000 square meters of land, not occupying productive rice fields, and not being near riverbanks.
