TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Capcom's demonstration video of the game Resident Evil: Requiem drew attention at Gamescom 2025 in Germany on Tuesday, August 19. The Japanese game developer revealed a 3-minute, 39-second segment of the storyline.
On the same day, during the live streaming of Gamescom 2025 on the IGN YouTube channel, presenter Geoff Keighley introduced the demo to the audience. He said the game will delve deeper into the latest footage, revealing the dark background of Grace Ashcroft, the game's main character, and why she might hold the key to surviving the upcoming threats.
The latest installment of the Resident Evil series begins in a dimly lit hotel room, illuminated only by two bedside lamps. Grace is busy typing on her laptop, sitting cross-legged on the bed. When her mother comes to reprimand her, she does not respond well.
Still focused on her laptop, a phone on Grace's left side rings. After asking her mother to pick up the phone, she answers it. A man's voice is heard, "Is this Mrs. Ashcroft?" Neither Grace nor her mother knew who the caller was.
The electricity in the room suddenly goes out, and her mother immediately takes Grace, who is confused, out of the room. Her mother takes a bag containing a pistol and turns on a flashlight, then opens the door of the room to find a way out of the hotel through the pitch-dark corridor. In third-person mode, players will take on the role of Grace, following her mother as she holds the flashlight.
The next scene opens with a mature man in a suit appearing and apologizing for the situation. From behind, another figure suddenly gags the man and stabs his neck.
The tragic scene causes Grace and her mother to run into a room. Cornered, her mother expresses affection for her daughter before ultimately being killed. To end this teaser, Capcom only shows Grace's shaken expression and her hysterical scream.
The footage ends, and the official game launch announcement is set for February 27, 2026. The product will be available on PlayStation, Xbox Series X and S, and Steam.
On other channels, such as YouTube ENFANT TERRIBLE, the game demo shows the presence of a female-bodied monster. Resembling Mr. X in Resident Evil 2 and Nemesis in Resident Evil 3, this female monster is made even more terrifying.
Early Trailer of Resident Evil: Requiem
Capcom previously launched the 9th installment trailer of Resident Evil, showing Grace as an adult and an intelligence analyst at the Federal Investigation Bureau (FBI). She is assigned to investigate a case of death due to an unidentified disease in an abandoned hotel, the same location of her mother's death a few years ago.
According to information on Capcom's official website, the game is still set in the fictional city of Raccoon City, like Resident Evil 2 and 3. Capcom presents a city devastated by a zombie outbreak.
Staying true to its classic style, Resident Evil: Requiem requires players to solve puzzles while surviving against zombies. According to the player's preference, Capcom offers the option of a first- or third-person perspective.
