TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Four Champions League playoff matches were played on Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026. Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory at Benfica thanks to a solitary goal from Vinicius Junior early in the second half.
Real Madrid's victory avenged the 4-2 defeat they suffered in their final league match in Lisbon three weeks ago. This result prevented the Spanish giants, the most successful in the Champions League with 15 trophies in history, from qualifying directly for the round of 16, finishing ninth.
This one-goal advantage gives Alvaro Arbeloa's team a head start in their second meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu next week. However, Real Madrid should remain cautious when they host Jose Mourinho's team.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) recorded a victory at Monaco. Luis Enrique's defending champions won 3-2.
Having fallen behind after Folarin Balogun scored twice in the first 18 minutes, PSG responded through Desire Doue and Achraf Hakimi to level the score at halftime. Doue then scored his second goal in the second half. The home team was reduced to ten men when the match resumed after Aleksandr Golovin received a red card.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray defeated Juventus 5-2 at Rams Park in Istanbul. The Italian Serie A team took the lead in the first half after Teun Koopmeiners scored twice to cancel out Gabriel Sara's first goal.
Galatasaray equalized early in the second half through Noa Lang, followed by Davinson Sanchez's goal in the 60th minute to restore the lead at 3-2. Juventus lost Juan Cabal to a red card in the 67th minute. The home team, with a numerical advantage, scored two more goals through Lang and Sancha Boey.
Borussia Dortmund also recorded a 2-0 victory over Atalanta at Signal Iduna Park. Goals from Serhou Guirassy in the third minute and Maximilian Beier just before halftime proved decisive.
The other four Champions League playoff first legs are scheduled for Thursday morning WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
