TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Depok City Government has issued instructions for Ramadan 1447 Hijri or 2026, including a prohibition on the holding of outdoor pre-dawn meal events or Sahur on the Road activities.
Deputy Mayor of Depok Chandra Rahmansyah conveyed the instructions to all citizens to maintain public order, security, and comfort during Ramadan.
"Firstly, all citizens of Depok are prohibited from carrying out Sahur on the Road activities that may potentially cause public order disturbances, traffic jams, noise, or other disturbing actions," Chandra said in the lobby of the Depok City Hall on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Secondly, he continued, citizens are expected to carry out Sahur activities within their respective communities, such as at home, mosques, prayer rooms, or locations that have received permission from authorities.
"Thirdly, for communities, organizations, or social groups who wish to carry out social activities during Ramadan, they are urged to prioritize activities that have a positive impact, such as distributing Sahur meals or social assistance while maintaining order and complying with applicable regulations," said Chandra.
Fourthly, parents are expected to supervise and guide their children to refrain from activities that may disrupt public safety and order.
Finally, Chandra stated that local authorities, together with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police, will monitor and enforce activities that may disturb public tranquility and order.
"These instructions are presented for attention and implementation with full responsibility. On behalf of the entire community of Depok, we express our gratitude for the cooperation," said Chandra.
Chandra emphasized the importance of maintaining a conducive and comfortable atmosphere for the community during Ramadan. One activity that frequently causes disturbance is Sahur on the Road.
"So, if there are processions or gatherings for Sahur on the Road, do not be angry if they are stopped or dispersed by the police or the Satpol PP (Public Order Agency), because we have issued instructions like this," said Chandra.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Metro Depok Police, Commissioner General Abdul Waras, added that they, along with joint personnel from the TNI and Satpol PP, will conduct routine patrols during Ramadan.
"Of course, this involves strict sanctions under the existing regulations, meaning that if criminal violations occur, we will impose sanctions in accordance with the law," said Abdul.
