TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As August 9 approaches, Singapore National Day brings a renewed sense of vibrancy and excitement to the city-state. With this year’s theme, “Majulah Singapura,” the celebration is set to showcase a powerful display of patriotism, unity, and culture across every corner of the nation.
From the grand National Day Parade (NDP) to heartland fireworks and community festivities, here’s your complete guide to experiencing the best of Singapore National Day 2025, as highlighted by TimeOut and Asia One.
Parade & Ceremony (P&C)
The highlight of every National Day is the National Day Parade, and 2025 promises to be as spectacular as ever. This year’s P&C at the Padang is set to feature a record 40 marching contingents, including 18 civilian groups representing various social and economic sectors.
This edition also marks the largest-ever display of marching contingents to date, with two major milestones: the Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps (SAFVC) will be participating as a full contingent for the first time to mark their 10th anniversary, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will make its debut in the prestigious Guard of Honour, standing proudly alongside the SAF and SPF.
More to that, a coordinated aerial jump will be performed by the Red Lions and the Republic of Singapore Navy’s naval divers for the first time in NDP history. As noted by PIONEER, they will arrive via the C-130 Hercules aircraft and the H225M Medium Lift Helicopter, respectively.
Keep an eye out as well for other key moments of the parade, including the official arrivals of national leaders, the soaring State Flag flypast, a spirited Feu De Joie, and the iconic 21-gun salute by the Marina Bay skyline.
Mobile Column
The official NDP website has confirmed the return of the Mobile Column to the heartlands. On August 10, starting from 11:30 AM, catch Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team vehicles as they journey along five heartland routes across the island.
According to Little Day Out, around 60 assets from the NDP Mobile Column will roll out from the F1 Village, each culminating in a key heartland location:
- South West Route – Final Destination is Bukit Gombak ActiveSG Stadium
- North West Route – Final Destination is Open field next to FutsalArena @ Yishun
- Central Route – Final Destination is Open field beside Bishan Junction 8
- North East Route – Final Destination is Open field next to One Punggol
- South East Route – Final Destination is Open field beside Wisma Geylang Serai
NDP 2025 Show
As the show unfolds across the Padang and Marina Bay, Singapore’s 60th year of independence will be celebrated through four key themes: People, Aspirations, Unity, and Progress. Reflecting the nation’s journey, each act offers a visual and emotional feast of lights, sound, and movement.
Local artists such as Kit Chan, Charlie Lim, The TENG Ensemble, Dick Lee, Benjamin Kheng, and Jai Kishen will also add a uniquely Singaporean touch to the stage. And just before the fireworks light up the sky, the entire nation will come together for a heartfelt sing-along of “Home.”
Fireworks
Whether you're a Singaporean or a visitor, watching the fireworks at the Singapore National Day is undoubtedly a crowd favorite. The main fireworks display will take place at the end of the parade at the Padang and Marina Bay, set to iconic NDP songs like “Stand Up for Singapore” and “Count on Me Singapore.”
According to TimeOut, fireworks will light up the sky at 7:33 p.m., 7:45 p.m., 7:58 p.m., with the longest and grandest display happening at 8:11 p.m. Still deciding where to catch the spectacle in all its glory? Check out our guide to the best places to watch NDP in Singapore.
Heartland Activities
If the crowds at the central celebration feel a little overwhelming, the heartlands stand as an accessible alternative. Since the pandemic, Singapore National Day festivities have expanded into the heartlands, and this year, five districts will host their own celebrations, including Bishan Junction 8, One Punggol, FutsalArena @ Yishun, Wisma Geylang Serai, and Bukit Gombak ActiveSG Stadium.
Each location will feature its own unique theme, so expect a full day of festivities, from Mobile Column displays and fun-filled carnival activities to live stage performances and dazzling fireworks. Once you’re sure to attend, be sure to collect your tickets from your nearest Community Centre. Tickets are limited to two per person and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
