TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Composite Stock Price Index or IHSG rose by 0.38 percent in the first trading session today, Thursday, April 24, 2025. The IHSG closed the first session at 6,659.6.
As the session closed, 389 gained, 234 declined, and 225 remained unchanged. "The transaction value reached Rp7.5 trillion, with 650,747 trading frequencies and a trading volume of 107.7 million lots," stated the Analyst Team of PT Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia on Thursday afternoon, April 24, 2025.
Three major banks were the most actively traded issuers this session. The banking stocks included Bank BRI (BBRI) with 26,849 transactions, followed by Bank Mandiri (BMRI) with 23,268 transactions, and Bank BCA (BBCA) with 20,721 transactions.
Regarding volume, tech company Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO) was the most traded stock in today’s first session, with a trading volume of 13 million lots, followed by BBKP with 3.2 million lots and BUMI with 3 million lots.
Not a single sectoral index weakened in today’s first trading session. Meanwhile, the non-cyclical consumer sector index (IDXNONCYC) rose 1.4 percent, making it the top gainer among sectoral indexes. The industrials index (IDXINDUST) was second, up 1.0 percent, and the basic materials sector index (IDXBASIC) increased by 0.94 percent.
The five top gainers based on percentage increase in the first session today were: CGAS, up 26.8 percent to Rp104 per share; FORU, up 24.8 percent to Rp1,355 per share; WAPO, up 24.5 percent to Rp142 per share; BSIM, up 23.4 percent to Rp1,025 per share; TNCA, up 22.8 percent to Rp156 per share.
Meanwhile, the five stocks with the biggest losses—or top losers—in the first session today included: NETV, down 14.4 percent to Rp202 per share; MEJA, down 10 percent to Rp179 per share; NAYZ, down 9.5 percent to Rp59 per share; SOUL, down 8.8 percent to Rp41 per share; SOFA, down 8.6 percent to Rp42 per share.
The IHSG movement was influenced by gains in the U.S. stock markets on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Major indices such as the S&P 500 rose by 1.67 percent, the Nasdaq by 2.50 percent, and the Dow Jones by 1.07 percent.
Meanwhile, some Asian markets saw gains while others weakened. By the end of today’s trading session, the Nikkei index rose by 0.8 percent, and the STI increased by 0.2 percent. On the other hand, the Kospi index declined by 0.4 percent, the Hang Seng fell by 1.2 percent, and the Shanghai index dropped by 0.1 percent.
