TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has brought in Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer to its Red and White Building after a sting operation at the Ministry of Manpower office today. KPK Deputy Chairperson Fitroh Rohcahyanto said the deputy minister, who is familiarly known as Noel, has arrived at the KPK building. "Indeed," he said when asked by reporters on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
KPK arrested the former President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo volunteer in an alleged extortion case against companies applying for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) certification. According to Fitroh, KPK seized cash, cars, and a motorcycle during the operation. "Cash, that's for certain, and dozens of cars, and a Ducati motorcycle," he said.
Who is Immanuel Ebenezer?
Immanuel Ebenezer was born in Riau on July 22, 1975. He is a known activist and cadre of the Gerindra Party. His political career took off when Noel became the Chair of Jokowi Mania Nusantara or JoMan. He expressed his support for Jokowi in the 2019 presidential election.
In the 2024 presidential election, as the chair of JoMan, he directed his volunteers to support Ganjar Pranowo, who was nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). However, midway through, Noel shifted his support the then presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto instead.
Noel was then inaugurated as the Deputy Minister of Manpower in the Red and White Cabinet in Prabowo's government. In the Ministry of Manpower, he assisted Minister Yassierli, a figure supported by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
Three law enforcement officials stated that during the sting operation at the Ministry of Manpower, KPK arrested around 20 individuals. Aside from Immanuel, there was also a level II Ministry of Manpower official. Tempo has attempted to contact Immanuel Ebenezer but has not received a response yet.
