
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AFC has conducted the draw for the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone at Hyatt Place, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Consequently, the Indonesian national team has been placed in Group B, where they will compete against Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Timur Kapadze, was assigned to conduct the draw. In Group A, Oman is placed alongside Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. In the draw, the Indonesian national team and Oman are placed in the third pot. The United Arab Emirates and Iraq are in the second pot, while Qatar and Saudi Arabia are in the first pot.

The fourth round will take place from October 8 to 14, 2025. Six teams will compete for two automatic spots in the final round of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
All matches will either use the home tournament system or be played at a centralized location. This is the final play-off round that will determine the two additional representatives from Asia who will automatically qualify for the final round. The competition format will use a single round-robin system. In this system, each team will play once against the other two teams in the group, which consists of three teams.

Only the group champions will directly secure a ticket to the final round of the 2026 World Cup. The two runner-up teams from the groups will still compete in the fifth round, which will use a two-legged system: home and away. The winner will represent Asia in the inter-confederation play-offs, the final round that will bring together six teams from five FIFA zones: Asia, Africa, South America, Oceania, and North and Central America.
