TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is targeting Rp110 trillion (about US$7 billion) in transactions from year-end shopping activities, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Airlangga made the statement while reviewing the Indonesia Great Sale program at Pondok Indah Mall in Jakarta. The nationwide retail campaign, organized by the Association of Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants (Hippindo), is running from December 18, 2025, to January 4, 2026, with a transaction target of Rp30 trillion.
The year-end target also includes transactions from the National Online Shopping Day, which was held earlier and recorded sales of around Rp35 trillion.
“By the end of the year, we are targeting total transactions of Rp110 trillion,” Airlangga told reporters during his visit to the mall.
After touring the shopping center, Airlangga noted that many retailers were offering discounts of up to 50 percent, a move he said could help stimulate consumer spending and support broader economic growth.
On the same occasion, Hippindo Chair Budiharjo Iduansjah thanked the government for implementing the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy, including allowing people to work from malls. According to him, shopping centers are increasingly functioning not only as retail spaces but also as places to gather and work.
Budiharjo said sales had increased over the past two weeks, although he did not provide specific figures. “This supports the strengthening of domestic trade so that overall turnover can grow and household consumption remains the backbone of the economy,” he said.
The Indonesia Great Sale program involves more than 400 outlets across 24 provinces, bringing together major retailers and shopping malls in an effort to boost domestic consumption during the year-end holiday period.
