TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, announced an evaluation of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or K3 certification process. The decision comes in response to allegations that several officials within the Ministry have been extorting companies during the certification process.
"In the future, no individuals in the Ministry of Manpower will be involved in corrupt practices or deviations in any form," Yassierli told journalists at his office in South Jakarta on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
This statement followed a sting operation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) that nabbed Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer, along with 19 others in the early hours of Thursday.
According to KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Cahyanto, the operation was related to extortion against companies related to OSH certification management.
Prior to the KPK's operation, Yassierli said his ministry was already making improvements. He noted that managing OSH certifications had been a key focus for the past 10 months. "We also implement integrity pacts, even for OSH service companies (PJK3), which number nearly 1,000 companies throughout Indonesia," he said.
To deter bribery, he added, employees with prolonged tenure in a single position will be rotated. Yassierli stressed that the case being investigated by the KPK must be a collective learning experience for the ministry.
He expressed hope that no more officials would be involved in corrupt practices. "We also ask the public to actively report if there are still bribery, extortion, or gratification practices," he said.
