TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie stated that jobs related to data processing, also known as administrative tasks, are almost certain to be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).

"Anyone who only performs administrative tasks will definitely be replaced by artificial intelligence," said Stella after attending the AI for Indonesia event at Djakarta Theatre, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Stella then shared tips for administrative workers to prevent the loss of their tasks and roles. Stella said that administrative workers must be creative or, at the very least, able to analyze problems using the data they collect. "So, it's not just about rewriting the data," she said.

Furthermore, Stella added that it would be even better if the data recorder could also provide solutions to the problems they encounter. "If we do that, we won't be replaced," she said.

Additionally, Stella shared her views on the increasingly massive development of AI. This Harvard University graduate stated that AI is simply a tool. She believes that AI seems very advanced and uncontrollable because it has only recently emerged.

According to Stella, AI will seem ordinary within the next five years. She compared the difficulty, concerns, and excitement of humans adapting to AI to how humans also struggled when first introduced to tools like Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

"I guarantee that in 5 or 10 years, AI will change and become easier," she said.

Finally, Stella urged the public not to worry about the existence of AI anymore. She even stated that AI is not something that everyone must master. Artificial intelligence is only mandatory for those whose jobs are indeed threatened by technological advances and in need of training to prevent displacement.

"So, if we want to provide training, it should be for the employees whose jobs are currently most threatened by automation," she said.
