KAI Cirebon Serves 68,024 Passengers During Chinese New Year Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhibbuddin, Public Relations Manager for Indonesia's State-owned Railway Company KAI Operations Region 3 Cirebon, explained that during the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday, his company served a total of 68,024 train passengers. This number consisted of 33,836 boarding passengers and 34,188 disembarking passengers from February 13-17, 2026, with data updated on February 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM local time.

"During this Chinese New Year holiday, the average daily number of arriving and disembarking passengers also increased," said Muhibbuddin, Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

The average number of arriving passengers was around 6,800, and the average number of departing passengers reached 6,700. Under normal conditions, the average number of passengers is only 3,000 to 4,000.

KAI urges passengers to arrive early to anticipate delays when boarding trains. Furthermore, passengers are asked to pay attention to the rules regarding carry-on baggage.

Coinciding with the Chinese New Year celebrations on February 17, 2026, passengers boarding and disembarking at Cirebon Station were entertained by a lion dance performance. Passengers, escorts, and local residents jostled to watch the energetic lion dance performances.

The lion dance troupe The Young Dragons not only entered the station lobby but also entered the Cakrabuana train, traveling from Cirebon to Jakarta. "I was quite surprised to see the lion dance on the train. But my son was happy; it's rare to see something like this," said passenger Yoga Prabowo. His son even asked to have his photo taken with the lion dance he was wearing.

Adding to the excitement of the 2577 Kongzili Chinese New Year, Cirebon Station was also filled with typical Chinese New Year decorations and ornaments. In the hall area of Cirebon Station, there was a Chinese New Year-themed photo booth for passengers to use for selfies.

"We hope that these interesting programs and activities can add to the memorable experience for train passengers during the 2026 Chinese New Year holidays," said Muhibbuddin.
