TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided the Manpower Ministry's office in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the raid, stating to journalists, "That's correct, the KPK team is currently conducting a raid at the Manpower Ministry."

Based on Tempo's observations at the location, the raid ended around 4:04 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB). KPK investigators left Building A of the Manpower Ministry. They were with several individuals and items, escorted by three police officers carrying long guns. They immediately went to three black Toyota Innova cars that were parked in the building's lobby.

In addition to the investigators, several people wearing white shirts, who were believed to be Ministry of Manpower employees, also got into the cars. A total of eight people, including the investigators, entered the cars. Here are the facts that came out after the KPK raided the Ministry of Manpower's office.

Raid Linked to Foreign Worker Permits

The Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Manpower Ministry, Sunardi Manampiar Sinaga, addressed the raid conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He mentioned that the raid was carried out at the Directorate of Control of Foreign Manpower Use (PPTKA).

"Related to the foreign worker permit services at the Directorate of Control of Foreign Worker Utilization," Sunardi said in his official statement on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Case Still Under Investigation

According to Sunardi, this is an old case that has been ongoing since 2019. Before raiding the Manpower Ministry, Sunardi stated that the KPK had already been investigating it based on public reports received in July 2024. He also couldn't confirm what KPK investigators found during the raid. "I cannot comment on it as I have not received any reports yet," he claimed.

Meanwhile, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said that the exact time of the crime, or the period when it happened, is still being looked into. "As for the time [of the act], the KPK will further delve into the information and statements resulting from today's raid," Budi said, as quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, the Acting Deputy of Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, revealed that the raid on the Manpower Ministry's office is linked to cases that happened between 2020 and 2023. "The period from 2020 to 2023," Asep said when asked from Jakarta on Tuesday.

Manpower Ministry Supports Legal Process

However, Sunardi said that the Manpower Ministry is committed to working with all relevant parties to improve accountability and follow the rules of good governance. "We fully support the ongoing legal process. This is part of a joint commitment to realize a clean, transparent, and integrity-based bureaucracy within the Manpower Ministry," he affirmed.

KPK Names Eight Suspects

Following the raid by the anti-graft body, spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that they had named eight people as suspects in the case involving the plan for the use of foreign workers (RPTKA) within the Manpower Ministry.

"Currently, there are eight individuals designated as suspects in this case," Budi said during a statement at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

However, he remained tight-lipped about the backgrounds of the eight suspects, such as whether they work for the government, private companies, or other organizations. He also admitted that he could not reveal what items were taken during the raid at the Manpower Ministry's office or exactly when the case took place.
