TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. temporarily closed eight inner-city toll gates heading towards Cawang, East Jakarta, this morning, Sunday, August 31, 2025, due to mass protest.
This information was shared via Jasa Marga's official social media account @ptjasamarga at 8:35 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). According to one post, Jasa Marga temporarily closed eight toll gates. In response to this closure, Jasa Marga advised road users to use alternative routes.
The following is a list of toll gates heading towards Cawang, East Jakarta, that Jasa Marga temporarily closed this morning.
-Angke 2 Toll Gate
-Jelambar 2 Toll Gate
-Tomang Toll Gate
-Tanjung Duren Toll Gate
-Slipi Toll Gate
-Pejompongan Toll Gate
-Semanggi 1 & 2 Toll Gates heading towards Cawang
Jasa Marga also reported that several toll gate exits were temporarily closed. One of them is the -Pejompongan Toll Gate at KM 09+800 from Semanggi.
The Pejompongan Toll Gate, located in front of the House of Representatives building in Jakarta, was burned down by protesters on Friday night, August 29, 2025. The fire engulfed the toll gate amidst the mass protest sparked by the death of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver, who was run over by a police tactical vehicle.
The fire began at the Pejompongan Toll Gate at around 9:10 PM WIB. At that time, thousands of demonstrators were still demonstrating in front of the DPR complex.
The Pejompongan Toll Gate that caught fire was located on the toll road. Before the fire, the toll gate appeared to have been scrawled with various words, including "murderous police" and "1312 ( The number 1312 is a reference of the alphabets ACAB = All Police Are Bastards)."
