TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To anticipate the surge in traffic, the Bogor Resort Police and the local government are set to enforce a Car Free Night policy along the Puncak route during New Year's Eve. The tourist attraction near Jakarta is expected to pull visitors gathering to celebrate the change of year.
The Bogor Resort Police will restrict vehicles starting from Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. local time until Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. The police have designated six main checkpoints for traffic control, namely Patung Ayam Gas Station, Pasir Angin junction, Megamendung junction, Lokawiratama junction, Taman Safari junction, and the Gunung Mas area.
"For road users from Jakarta heading to Cianjur or Bandung, officers will divert traffic through the Sukabumi route," said Chief of Bogor Resort Police Traffic Unit, Adjunct Commissioner Rizky Guntama, in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The police also urge residents to use the alternative route of Cibubur-Cileungsi-Jonggol to Cianjur to avoid congestion at critical bottleneck points.
The Bogor Resort Police has deployed 72 joint personnel consisting of the Traffic Unit, Samapta, Transportation Agency, and Public Order Agency. Officers will implement special checkpoint times, from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.for cars and from 10:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. for motorcycles.
Rizky added that the police are noting the risk of natural disasters, as Puncak is prone to landslides during the rainy season. The police are working with relevant agencies to implement integrated posts along the route and station heavy equipment at vital locations such as Gadog junction and Gunung Mas to ensure a rapid response in the event of a disaster.
In addition to Puncak, the Bogor Resort Police has also expanded security to other vital points in the Bogor Regency. The police have implemented special arrangements on the Pakansari Ring Road and a contra-flow scheme on Jenderal Sudirman Street to ensure the controlled mobility of the community.
"Hopefully, the maximum security effort can guarantee a safe, orderly, and conducive New Year's Eve celebration in 2026 for all residents and tourists visiting the Bogor Regency," said Rizky.
