Patrick Kluivert's 5 Surprise Indonesian Picks for China, Japan Matches

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coach Patrick Kluivert has called up 32 players to represent the Indonesian national team for the matches against China and Japan in the ongoing 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian zone. He has made some surprising decisions, such as the return of Asnawi Mangkualam and Stefano Lilipaly.

The Indonesian national team will face two crucial matches in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone. The Garuda squad will host China at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on June 5, 2025, and then visit Japan five days later.

1. Reza Arya Pratama

Reza Arya Pratama is a 25-year-old goalkeeper from PSM Makassar. He has been the main goalkeeper for PSM in the last three seasons. Reza was called to the national team in 2023 for friendly matches against Palestine, Argentina, and Turkmenistan. However, he has never been fielded, and now he has been called up again by the Indonesian National Team.

2. Asnawi Mangkualam Returns

Muhammad Ferarri is not mentioned in the squad that was called up this time. Instead, one of the players with the most caps in the current Indonesian National Team, Asnawi Mangkualam, has returned. Asnawi has already earned 50 caps. He is only behind Pratama Arhan (54 caps).

3. Sayuri Duo

The Sayuri Duo are familiar faces in the national team, although they were not called up for the matches against Australia and Bahrain. Yance Sayuri and Yakob Sayuri have been called again to strengthen Indonesia's three lines.
