TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The corruption case involving the crude oil management of Pertamina has finally reached the Jakarta Corruption Court. On Monday, October 13, 2025, prosecutors read the indictments against four defendants. Among them was Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, the son of oil magnate Mohammad Riza Chalid.
In the indictment, prosecutors also mentioned Riza Chalid by name. The father and son were accused of pressuring Pertamina to lease a private fuel terminal through a direct appointment scheme. “The lease agreement did not meet the criteria for procurement through direct appointment,” said prosecutor Triyana when reading out the indictment.
Although Riza Chalid was named in the indictment, prosecutors have done little since. The man long known as ‘the gasoline godfather’ was declared a suspect on July 10, 2025,but investigators have yet to question him. His whereabouts remain unclear. Immigration records show Riza flew to Malaysia five months earlier.
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) had actually requested that Interpol issue a red notice through the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police in August. But Tempo’s monitoring of Interpol’s website found that Riza Chalid’s name never appeared on its wanted list. Prosecutors also never informed the public about the progress of the search.
