Prabowo Arrives in the US for Board of Peace Summit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is now in Washington, D.C., United States (US), to attend the first Summit of the Board of Peace. Prabowo and his presidential entourage landed at Andrews Military Base on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 11:55 a.m. local time (11:55 p.m. Western Indonesian Time).

When Prabowo's Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft landed, the President was greeted by several local officials. Among them were Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Indonesian Defense Attaché in Washington Air Marshal E. Wisoko Aribowo, and Maintenance Group Commander Colonel Gary Charland.

After the reception at the airport, Prabowo headed straight to his hotel where he will be staying during his stay in Washington, D.C. During this visit, Prabowo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.

Teddy stated that President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump during this visit. "This visit is part of President Prabowo's active direct diplomatic efforts to improve the economic chain and domestic industrial productivity," Teddy said in a written statement early Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Prabowo is scheduled to attend the Board of Peace Summit, a shadow organization of the United Nations (UN) created by US President Donald Trump. At the Board of Peace's formation on January 22, 2026, in Davos, Switzerland, Prabowo signed the organization's charter.

Now, less than a month after its formation, the heads of state of the Board of Peace will attend its first summit at the Institute of Peace in Washington on Thursday, February 19, 2026. This meeting is claimed to promote a second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza and raise funds for the reconstruction of the war-affected Palestinian territories.

In addition to the Board of Peace Summit, Prabowo will also sign a trade agreement with President Donald Trump during the bilateral meeting. Prabowo and Trump will sign the final document for reciprocal trade negotiations, or the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), at their upcoming forum.

Several substantive points of the negotiation document have been agreed upon and discussed during the legal drafting process. Within the framework of the agreement, Indonesia has committed to exempting import duties for most products from the United States.

Meanwhile, the US has reduced reciprocal tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 percent to 19 percent. The US has also committed to providing tariff exemptions for several of Indonesia's leading export commodities, including palm oil (CPO), coffee, and cocoa. Tariff exemptions apply to Indonesian export products that cannot be produced in the US.
