TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with Rosan Roeslani, Head of the Investment Management Agency Danantara, to discuss the progress of the Haji Village project in Saudi Arabia and housing for disaster victims in Sumatra. The meeting took place at the President’s private residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, Jakarta, on Saturday night, December 27, 2025.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo requested a progress report on the Haji Village in Mecca, specifically focusing on tower locations, land area, and the various stages of development.
"Minister Rosan conveyed that, through President Prabowo's initiative and diplomacy, the Saudi government has expressed full support for the program. This follows a phone call between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Prabowo on December 8," Teddy said in a statement on Saturday.
Teddy further explained that discussions regarding the Hajj Village have intensified, with Rosan meeting Saudi Arabian authorities four times to date to finalize the details. These diplomatic efforts remain ongoing.
According to Teddy, Prabowo emphasized his commitment to ensuring that all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have access to high-quality accommodation. "President Prabowo wants all Indonesian pilgrims to have their own comfortable facilities located in close proximity to Masjidil Haram," he noted.
Addressing domestic concerns, Prabowo also requested an update on the 15,000 housing units being developed by Danantara for disaster-affected residents in Sumatra. Rosan reported that 500 residences are scheduled for completion this week, with the remaining units progressing simultaneously.
"The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Housing are also building additional residences," Teddy added, quoting the official statement from the Presidential Secretariat.
Teddy concluded by stating that these initiatives are designed to ensure a rapid, measured, and equitable recovery for disaster-affected communities while strengthening Indonesia’s presence both domestically and on the international stage.
