TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto removed Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani in the Red and White Cabinet reshuffle today. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi announced that five new ministers and one coordinating minister will be inaugurated. One of the inaugurated ministers is from a new ministry.
The coordinating ministers and the ministers who were reshuffled are Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding. The new ministry is the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
"This afternoon, the inauguration will be held at the State Palace," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace complex, September 8, 2025.
Prasetyo did not disclose the names of those who will replace the removed ministers, including Sri Mulyani.
However, several figures who are expected to fill the positions have arrived before 3:00 PM. Those who came to the State Palace include the Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf; Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa; and member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhtarudin; and Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono. They arrived with their families dressed in blue suits and ties.
Purbaya's name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Sri Mulyani. Purbaya said he was called by the Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya to attend the invitation at 3:00 PM. However, he was unaware of the purpose of the invitation. Purbaya said his term at LPS ends this September. "The term ends in September," Purbaya said as he entered the Presidential Palace.
Meanwhile, Irfan Yusuf said that Teddy Indra Wijaya suddenly called him at 2:00 PM. "I was asked to come to the Palace at 3, wearing a suit and tie. But I still don't know what this event is about," he said.
The man known as Gus Irfan did not deny that today's agenda is related to the reshuffle. He mentioned that anything could happen. "But we'll just have to wait and see," said Gus Irfan.
