TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has allocated Rp72.7 billion to purchase cattle for distribution to residents in Aceh. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian shared this information during a disaster management meeting for Sumatra with the House of Representatives on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
According to Tito, the beef will be distributed to 3,042 villages across 19 regencies and cities in Aceh. However, he stopped short of specifying the exact number of cattle purchased by the head of state.
"We also report that the President has provided assistance in the amount of Rp72,750,000,000 for the purchase of cattle and the distribution of meat in 19 regencies and cities in Aceh," Tito said at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The former National Police Chief explained that the Ministry of Home Affairs followed up on Prabowo's instructions by purchasing the livestock. The cattle will be slaughtered and the meat distributed today, coinciding with the day before Ramadan 2026.
"The purchase of cattle has been made, and we have issued a circular for distribution today, 1 day before the fasting month. The essence is that the residents of the 3,042 villages must receive a portion of the beef," he said.
As reported by Antara, Prabowo distributed beef to disaster-affected residents in Aceh as part of the 'meugang' tradition ahead of Ramadan. This follows a similar action by the Pidie Regency Government, which distributed 119 cattle on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The Deputy Regent of Pidie, Alzaizi, stated that Prabowo allocated a budget of Rp2 billion for cattle distribution in the area. Alzaizi mentioned that the assistance reached 5,547 families across eight districts affected by floods in November 2025.
