Prabowo - Gibran Extend Greetings for Nyepi Day

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto extended his greetings to the Hindu community for Nyepi Day and the Saka New Year 1947. He shared his message through the official Presidential Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Prabowo expressed his hope that Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa would grant blessings and guide the people. The Chair of the Gerindra Party also wished that the Silence Day would bring peace and harmony to everyone.

Additionally, on his personal Instagram account @prabowo, the former military general offered prayers for blessings, peace, and safety to all Hindus in Indonesia observing Nyepi. "May Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa bestow blessings, peace, and safety upon all Hindus in Indonesia who are celebrating. Cheers, Rahajeng Nyepi!" wrote PS.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka also conveyed his greetings for Nyepi. The son of the 7th President Joko Widodo shared a video message through the official channel of the Vice President's Secretariat.

Gibran noted the timing of Nyepi, which occurs close to Eid al-Fitr 2025. The Indonesian government has not yet confirmed the exact date for this year's Eid. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is scheduled to hold the Isbat session this afternoon.

"I encourage everyone to foster harmony and a welcoming atmosphere, so that our fellow citizens who are celebrating can perform their religious observances with devotion," said Gibran.

The Nyepi Day is often referred to as the "Day of Silence." This is because Hindu communities, particularly in Bali, observe a ritual of self-purification by abstaining from various activities for 24 hours. During this day, people are restricted from traveling, using lights at night, making noise, and engaging in work.
