TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will meet with business leaders during his visit to the United States this week. Prabowo arrived in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, to attend several state agendas.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat, Prabowo is scheduled to have meetings in the evening local time immediately after arriving in the U.S. "As well as several meetings with the government and businessmen of the United States," as written in the Cabinet Secretariat statement.

Prabowo's meeting with American entrepreneurs will discuss strategic cooperation in various economic fields. The discussion is also taking place amid negotiations and trade agreements between Indonesia and the U.S.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that Prabowo will have a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump during this visit. "This visit is part of President Prabowo's active diplomatic measures to enhance the economic chain and domestic industrial productivity," Teddy said in a written statement on early Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

On this visit, Prabowo was accompanied by Teddy and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. Upon arrival at Andres Military Base, Prabowo and his entourage went directly to the hotel where they would stay during their time in Washington D.C.

Upon arriving at the hotel, President Prabowo was welcomed by hundreds of Indonesian diaspora consisting of students, workers, and Indonesian citizens residing in Washington D.C. and its surrounding areas.

At their upcoming forum, Prabowo and Trump will sign the final document for reciprocal trade negotiations, also known as Agreements on Reciprocal Trade (ART).

Several substantive points from the negotiation document have been agreed upon and discussed in the legal drafting process. Within the framework of this agreement, Indonesia has committed to exempting import duties for most products of American origin.

Meanwhile, the U.S. will lower reciprocal tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 percent to 19 percent. America also commits to granting tariff exemptions for several of Indonesia's leading export commodities, including palm oil, coffee, and cocoa. Tariff exemptions will apply to Indonesian exports that cannot be produced in the U.S.

In addition, Prabowo is also scheduled to attend the Board of Peace summit, an organization shadowing the United Nations (UN) led by U.S. President Donald Trump. During the formation of the Board of Peace on January 22, 2026, in Davos, Switzerland, Prabowo signed the organization's charter.
