Hundreds of people swarmed the residence of Ahmad Sahroni, a legislator from the NasDem Party and member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I, in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Saturday afternoon, August 30, 2025.
The incident took place at his home on Jalan Swasembada Timur XXII Number 52, Kebon Bawang, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
Tempo’s observation showed several individuals forcing their way into the house of the former Deputy Chair of Commission III and ransacking its contents. Crowds were seen carrying out mattresses, pillows, refrigerators, washing machines, cabinets, and other household furniture.
2. Indonesian Students in Australia Condemn DPR Member's Sydney Tour Amid Protests
Indonesian students in Sydney, Australia, confronted members of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) during their working visit and tour, amid widespread demonstrations protesting lawmakers’ allowances.
Mahesti Hasanah, a political economics doctoral candidate at the University of Sydney, said the students took the initiative to approach the DPR members.
“They avoided the students and left immediately,” she told Tempo on Saturday.
The DPR members had reportedly planned to visit Scenic World & Echo Point, a popular amusement and tourist spot in the Blue Mountains featuring a cable car and scenic views.
3. The Meaning of ACAB and 1312 in Recent Protests in Jakarta
Motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan was killed in the midst of a protest in Jakarta on Thursday, August 28, 2025, when he was run over by a tactical police vehicle from the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the Indonesian National Police. Following this incident, many people have condemned the police actions on social media by using the term ACAB and creating the hashtag #PolisiPembunuhRakyat (Police Are Murderers Of The People) in X.
During a meeting with Affan Kurniawan's family at RSCM (Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital), the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo expressed his apologies for the incident. "Of course, I apologize to the entire motorcycle taxi (ojol) community and the public for the tragedy and the incident that occurred," he said to reporters.
