After being closed for 13 years, the Jakarta Planetarium Theater at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) is officially open. Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the facility on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The general public began enjoying the space center on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Jakarta Planetarium is now a modern, interactive science center. The facility features a digital astronomy visualization system based on the latest scientific data. It includes solar system simulations and improved tools for students and researchers. A new AI Virtual Host serves as a digital guide, offering facts about astronomy and the history of the site.

2. BMKG: New Cyclone Seed Brings Heavy Rainfall to Bali, Nusa Tenggara

Tropical Cyclone Seed 96S will bring moderate to heavy rainfall in West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara, while blowing strong winds to the southern coast of Bali and East Nusa Tenggara.

The same tropical cyclone seed is predicted to generate moderate high waves (1.25 - 2.50 meters) in the waters south of Central Java to East Java, the Indian Ocean south of Central Java to Yogyakarta, the southern waters of Lombok to Timor Island, and the Savu Sea.

It is highly likely that 2.50 - 4.00 meter high waves will occur in the southern part of the Bali Strait and the Indian Ocean south of East Java to East Nusa Tenggara.

3. Probe Sought Into TNI Violence Against Free Aceh Movement Flag Bearers

The Executive Director of Amnesty International Indonesia, Usman Hamid, has called for an independent investigation into violence by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) against Acehnese civilians displaying the symbols of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM).

The incident occurred during a TNI-led operation targeting a convoy carrying the GAM flag in Krueng Mane, North Aceh, on the night of Thursday, December 25, 2025. Usman described the raid as a serious human rights violation.

“The repressive actions allegedly carried out by joint TNI and police forces against volunteers distributing aid to Aceh Tamiang reflect an abuse of power. The humanitarian initiative was met with a raid, flag confiscation, beatings, kicks, and threats with weapons,” Usman said in a statement on Friday, December 26.

Several videos circulating on social media appear to show security personnel beating volunteers, with some victims sustaining head injuries from rifle butts.
