2. Libya Declares 3 Days of National Mourning After Army Chief's Death in Plane Crash

Libya announced a three-day national mourning on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 following the deaths of the Chief of Staff of the Army, Mohammed al-Haddad, and four senior military officials in a plane crash near the capital of Turkey, Ankara.

In a statement, the Government of National Unity of Libya expressed condolences to the families of the victims and their colleagues in the Libyan Armed Forces.

The statement mentioned that during the three days of mourning period, all state institutions will fly flags at half-mast, and official ceremonies and celebrations will be postponed.

3. 2026 Minimum Wage: The Standard for Decent Living Needs

Several regional heads in Indonesia have officially announced the increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) for 2026. However, labor unions still reject the new minimum wage figures set by the governors, one of the reasons being that the amount is below the Standard of Decent Living Needs (KHL).

The rejection comes from the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI). KSPI rejects the nominal increase of Jakarta's minimum wage announced at Rp5.73 million.

KSPI President Said Iqbal stated that the figure is far below the Jakarta KHL standard, which is Rp5.89 million. This organization demands that the wage increase next year be equivalent to the KHL figure.

"KSPI, Labor Party, along with the alliance of every worker in Greater Jakarta, reject it," said Said Iqbal in a virtual press conference held on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

Several regions still have a significant gap between the KHL and the provincial minimum wage. For example, UMP Yogyakarta for the next year is set at Rp2.41 million, a figure far below the Yogyakarta KHL of Rp4.6 million. UMP Bali in 2026 is set at Rp3.2 million, while the decent living needs in Bali are Rp5.2 million.
