TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited Plaza Seremoni, the Core Central Government Area (KIPP) of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He claimed that the enthusiasm of the people visiting IKN is high.
Gibran claimed that 37,000 people were visiting the IKN area with a total of approximately 10,000 vehicles. He predicted that the number of visitors would continue to increase until the beginning of the new year.
"People came from various regions, from the old to the young, all ages. They took advantage of the toll road access directly from Balikpapan to IKN and vice versa," said Gibran in an official statement from the Vice President's Secretariat on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The eldest son of former President Jokowi said that the visiting public could enjoy various supporting facilities that have been provided. It starts with free electric bus services and extends to convenience stores, restaurants, hotels, and electronic stores.
"Even, at several points around Plaza Seremoni, there is ready-to-drink water available that can be consumed directly by the public," he said.
Gibran said that the development of IKN focuses not only on physical infrastructure, but also on ensuring the direct presence of the state among the people.
The IKN Authority previously recorded a surge in public visits to the Core Central Government Area (KIPP) of IKN during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2026. On December 25, 2025, the number of visitors to the area reached around 37,000 people.
The Spokesperson for the IKN Authority, Troy Pantouw, said that the high number of tourists was also evident from the movement of vehicles entering the KIPP area. "On December 25, the number of vehicles recorded entering the Central Government Core Area reached around 10,050 units," said Troy, quoted from a written statement on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
