TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Social media has recently been flooded with digital action figure photos generated through a unique new feature from Gemini AI.
Users are transforming their portraits, group photos, and even everyday activities, such as riding motorcycles or driving cars, into digital miniatures that resemble professional collectible figurines displayed on a desk.
The trend has quickly gone viral across Instagram, TikTok, and X, while also dominating Google Trends searches in the past two days with keywords such as “prompt Gemini AI,” “Google Gemini miniatures,” and “action figures.”
The craze emerged after Google launched its latest feature, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana), which allows anyone to create digital figurines using only a photo and a short description or “prompt.”
The results mimic high-quality collectible figures, complete with a transparent acrylic base and Bandai-style toy packaging. Unlike traditional photography or 3D modeling, this feature requires no specialized equipment or design skills. Once the prompt is submitted, the AI generates the digital miniature in less than a minute.
Some of the recommended prompts include:
“Create a 1/7 scale commercialized figurine of the characters in the picture, in a realistic style, in a real environment. The figurine is placed on a computer desk with a round transparent acrylic base and no text. On the desk is a toy packaging box, designed in the style of premium collectible figures, printed with original artwork. The packaging features flat illustrations, while the computer screen next to it displays the 3D modeling process of the figure.”
How to Create Digital Miniatures with Gemini AI
Open Gemini AI at https://gemini.google.com/app
Click the notification that reads: “New! Try image editing with our best image model, Nano Banana.”
Upload the photo you want to turn into a digital figure—faces and key objects should be clear. Photos can be added directly or from Google Drive.
Copy and paste Gemini’s suggested prompt, or write your own.
Submit the photo and prompt, then wait. Results typically appear in under a minute.
Download and save the generated miniature.
Tempo tested the feature using one of the prompts. The result closely resembled a real action figure, complete with a toy box that matched the color scheme of the uploaded photo and included a name and description
The figurine’s details were impressively precise, from clothing patterns to accessories like guitars, microphones, and tattoos. Behind the box, a large monitor screen displayed the 3D design process of the figure, as described in the prompt.
Users can also personalize the result by adjusting prompts, for instance, adding names or specific descriptions to make the figurine more unique.
The feature’s virality owes much to the variety of creative experiments shared online. While many netizens expressed amazement at the artificial intelligence results and exchanged tips for writing better prompts, others pointed out flaws. For instance, when uploading a photo of four people, the output sometimes produced only three figures.
