TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta recorded that as many as 439 people are still displaced in several places due to floods caused by heavy rain on March 7 and 8, 2026. Isnawa Adji, the Head of the BPBD Jakarta, said that the hundreds of evacuees are divided among four sub-districts.

In Kedaung Kali Angke Sub-district, West Jakarta, three mosques in the area have been utilized as shelters for flood-affected residents. A total of 138 people from 44 families are taking shelter in this sub-district.

Meanwhile, in Kembangan Selatan Sub-district, West Jakarta, 130 people have sought refuge in At Taqwa Mosque and Darul Muhyi Assembly. Whereas in Kembangan Utara Sub-district, West Jakarta, Jami Al Ikhlas Mosque and Tihanah Mosque accommodate 108 people, and 33 people are taking shelter at SDN 05/08.

Jelambar Sub-district, West Jakarta, also still has evacuees affected by the flood. A total of 30 people from 10 families are still staying at At Taqwa Mosque because they have not been able to return to their waterlogged homes.

Isnawa mentioned that several areas in Jakarta were still inundated as of Monday morning, March 9, 2026. "Currently, there are 16 sub-districts and 2 roads inundated," he said in his statement on Monday, March 9, 2026.

All remaining flooded areas due to the two-day rain are in West Jakarta. Isnawa stated that the highest number of flooded areas is in Rawa Buaya Sub-district, with 7 sub-districts still inundated at a height of 60 to 90 centimeters.

Furthermore, four sub-districts in Duri Kosambi Sub-district are still flooded at a height of 30 to 80 centimeters, one sub-district in Jelambar at a height of 30 centimeters, as well as two sub-districts each in Kembangan Selatan and Kembangan Utara at a height of 40 to 60 centimeters.

"The causes of the flood are due to high rainfall and river overflow," he said. He mentioned that his team has deployed personnel to monitor the flood conditions in each Jakarta area, including coordinating relevant parties to pump out the inundation and ensure that the water channels function properly.

"The inundation is targeted to recede quickly. We urge the public to remain cautious and alert to the potential inundation," he added.
