TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto said French President Emmanuel Macron expressed support for a two-state solution to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict. Prabowo received the assurance directly during a dinner with Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Monday, July 14, 2025.

"France supports the two-state solution," said the Head of State in an official statement on Tuesday, July 15.

The two-state solution, which Indonesia continues to advocate, involves mutual recognition between Palestine and Israel, followed by negotiations on borders, capitals, and other technical matters.

During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the importance of a just and lasting peace. They also discussed bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and France, although Prabowo did not elaborate further. "In general, it was very productive," he said.

Earlier that day, Prabowo attended France’s Bastille Day celebration as an honored guest. He sat beside Macron to watch Indonesia’s military contingent, made up of 500 personnel, march while performing the patriotic song "Maju Tak Gentar" by Cornel Simanjuntak.

Later that evening, Macron hosted a dinner with Prabowo, where the two discussed various issues, including the Middle East conflict.

Prior to his Paris visit, Prabowo was in Brussels, Belgium, on Sunday, July 13, where Indonesia and the European Union reached an agreement on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which will improve market access for Indonesian products in Europe.
