TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi and her partner, Erin Routliffe, advanced to the Round of 16 in the women's doubles at the Cincinnati Open, held in Cincinnati, USA, early Monday morning (WIB).
They secured a straight-sets victory over Asia Muhammad (USA) and Fanny Stollar (Hungary) with a score of 7-5, 7-5 in a match lasting 1 hour and 46 minutes, according to the WTA.
The match was tightly contested across both sets. Aldila and Routliffe managed to clinch the first set 7-5 after converting one of the three break-point opportunities they earned. Meanwhile, Muhammad and Stollar converted only two of their six break-point chances.
Regarding service statistics, Aldila and Routliffe recorded three aces compared to their opponents' two. They committed only one double fault, whereas Muhammad and Stollar committed none in the first set.
The competition remained fierce as the match entered the second set. Aldila and Routliffe ultimately won 7-5 again, successfully converting three of seven break-point opportunities.
Muhammad and Stollar actually demonstrated slightly better efficiency in capitalizing on break-point chances during the second set.
They converted four of nine opportunities—a 44.4 percent success rate—while Aldila and Routliffe recorded a 42.9 percent rate from the three chances they secured.
In terms of service statistics, Aldila and Routliffe produced one ace and committed three double faults. Their ace count matched Muhammad and Stollar's total of three double faults, though the opposing pair did not record any aces in the second set.
Overall, Aldila and Routliffe tallied four aces and four double faults throughout the match. They converted four of 10 break-point opportunities, or 40 percent.
Meanwhile, Muhammad and Stollar recorded two aces and three double faults, while capitalizing on six of 15 break-point opportunities, also a 40 percent conversion rate. Although match statistics were fairly balanced, Aldila and Routliffe proved more effective at crucial moments and maintained their lead at the end of each set.
The 7-5, 7-5 victory secured the pair's spot in the Round of 16 at the 2026 Cincinnati Open.
In the Round of 16, Aldila and Routliffe will face the duo of Liang En-shuo (Taiwan) and Shuko Aoyama (Japan).
