TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Netherlands national team has officially announced its final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup. Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk will lead Ronald Koeman's team in the tournament held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Koeman has retained several key players despite some of them facing fitness concerns in recent months. The Netherlands' top goalscorer, Memphis Depay, has recovered from a hamstring injury and made the final list. Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has also been called up despite doubts about his physical condition.
Depay will lead the Oranje frontline alongside other famous names such as Cody Gakpo, Donyell Malen, and veteran striker Wout Weghorst.
On the other hand, the Netherlands will be without Xavi Simons, who will be absent due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered last April. Additionally, the absence of Liverpool wing-back Jeremie Frimpong comes as one of Koeman's biggest surprises in the squad selection.
Nevertheless, the Oranje squad is still filled with experienced and talented players. Names such as Frenkie de Jong, Ryan Gravenberch, Tijjani Reijnders, and Cody Gakpo are projected to be the backbone of the team throughout the tournament.
The Netherlands will start its campaign in Group F, facing Japan on June 15. After that, Oranje is scheduled to meet Sweden on June 21 and Tunisia on June 26.
