TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The tourist attraction Waterblow in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, is temporarily closed due to high waves. The closure is in effect until an undetermined time.

I Made Agus Dwiatmika, General Manager of Nusa Dua ITDC, the manager of this tourist attraction, stated that the decision for temporary closure was made based on direct monitoring by the operational team and in consideration of the official warning from BMKG Region III Denpasar regarding the potential of high waves predicted during August 6-9, 2025.

"We have decided to temporarily close it starting from Wednesday, August 6, 2025, until further notice," Dwiatmika said on Wednesday, July 6, 2025.

Additional Security Measures in Nusa Dua

As part of risk mitigation for high waves, ITDC has implemented additional security measures focused on two islands in the tourist area, namely Peninsula Island and Nusa Dharma Island.

For Peninsula Island, they have deployed additional security personnel in high-risk areas, especially around the waterblow and Pura Bias Tugel. They have installed signs and warning boards at strategic points to alert visitors to the danger of high waves. They have also coordinated intensively with the manager of Pura Bias Tugel to ensure visitor safety, comfort, and security in the sacred area.

Meanwhile, on Nusa Dharma Island, patrols and monitoring of pedestrian pathways and public areas near the coastline have increased.

In addition, security personnel are on standby to anticipate uncontrolled visitor movement toward vulnerable areas. Temporary adjustments to access routes may be made if needed based on developments in the field.

"As of now, the situation in the area is still under control with only minor damage recorded to several supporting elements around the waterblow area," he stated.

Waterblow is one of the natural attractions in the area, with the natural spectacle of waves crashing against the rock formations.

High Wave Warning

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning for high waves, ranging from 2.5 to 6 meters, which maritime activities in several Indonesian waters should anticipate from August 7 to 10, 2025. Waves ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 meters are potentially occurring in the southern Indian Ocean of Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and along the west coast of Sumatra, including the western Indian Ocean of Aceh, Bengkulu, and Lampung.

The community and maritime activities are urged to increase vigilance, especially for users of fishing boats, barges, ferries, and cargo or cruise ships that could be directly impacted by wind speed and extreme wave heights.
