Trump Attends 47th ASEAN Summit, Spends the Night in Kuala Lumpur

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on October 26-27, 2025, and stay for one night in the Malaysian capital.

Based on information gathered by Antara at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Saturday, October 25, 2025, Trump will leave the United States on Saturday night and arrive in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning, in time for the opening of the summit.

Trump's presence is an official invitation from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the current Chair of ASEAN, which has been agreed upon by all member state leaders.

This visit to Kuala Lumpur will mark Trump's first trip to Southeast Asia since being inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States in January 2025.

In addition to attending the ASEAN Summit, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several member countries.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is also expected to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Foreign Minister Sugiono previously stated that Prabowo will depart from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

During the annual meeting, Prabowo will present Indonesia's views on strengthening ASEAN's position and efforts to maintain regional and global peace.

Indonesia plays a crucial role in ASEAN as one of the founding members and a member with the largest population, which serves as one of the main pillars of regional strength.
