BANGKOK has been selected as the best destination in the world for Gen Z according to a Time Out survey. The capital of Thailand has surpassed major cities in the world such as Melbourne, Cape Town, and New York City.
The survey involved 18,500 local residents to determine the best cities in the world, with Cape Town, South Africa, as the best city overall. However, when considering the responses from those under 30 years old, also known as Gen Z and younger millennials, the analysis shows that Bangkok is a popular choice.

Reasons Why Bangkok is the Gen Z Favorite
Bangkok has outperformed other cities and holds the title as the best destination in the world for those under 30 years old. There are several reasons Gen Z chooses Bangkok, firstly 84 percent of the respondents say they enjoy living in Bangkok because it is easy to make friends. Its friendly residents make it an ideal city to build new friendships.
Bangkok is also considered a highly affordable place to live, with 71 percent of respondents under 30 rating Bangkok as budget-friendly. The relatively low cost of living means Gen Z can enjoy life and travel without financial burdens. Additionally, the city is rich in cultural diversity, from beautiful temples to bustling shopping districts and vibrant nightlife.

Other Gen Z Preferred Cities
In addition to Thailand, there are several other cities that are the choices among those under 30 years old, as reported by Nation Thailand. The second rank is Melbourne, Australia. The city is praised for its diversity and rapidly growing art scene, with 96 percent of respondents appreciating its cultural offerings.
Then the third rank is Cape Town, South Africa. Known for its stunning scenery and affordable socializing costs. Next is New York City, United States, in the fourth rank, considered the most enjoyable city for the young, with a nightlife that never sleeps. Lastly, in the fifth rank, Copenhagen, Denmark, is seen as a great place for dating and enjoying a satisfying lifestyle.
