BGN Head: Each SPPG Receives Rp1 Billion Monthly for MBG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Nutrition Body (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that each Nutritious Meal Fulfillment Service (SPPG) receives around Rp1 billion per month from the free nutritious meal program (MBG). The fund is described as a driver for regional economies.

"On average, each SPPG will receive Rp1 billion per month," Dadan said in a statement on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

According to Dadan, the fund is channeled to regions through a virtual account mechanism managed by the State Treasury Service Office (KPPN). He noted that about 93 percent of the BGN budget flows directly to SPPG units throughout Indonesia.

With the current number of SPPGs reaching 25,574 units, Dadan emphasized that this scheme ensures a more equitable distribution of the national budget across various regions.

He cited West Java as an example, which has around 5,000 SPPGs. With this figure, the money turnover in that area is estimated to reach Rp5 trillion per month. In the 2.5 months of program implementation, total circulated funds are said to have reached Rp11-12 trillion. "This is what drives the economy in each region," he said.

Dadan conveyed that the MBG program was designed from the onset not only for nutritional fulfillment, but also as a strategic effort to boost the local economy. The program's food needs are expected to be supplied by local production, thereby opening markets for local farmers and businesses.

In addition, the presence of SPPG is said to create job opportunities in the regions, ranging from operational staff to nutrition experts recruited from the surrounding community.

According to Dadan, several local governments have started encouraging the funds from this program to be spent on local raw materials. He hopes for economic turnover within the same region, creating a circular economy. "The money that comes into a region will be spent by buying raw materials available in that region," he said.
