TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lieutenant General Suharyanto reported the estimated total budget for the recovery of all damages due to the Sumatra floods to reach Rp51.82 trillion.
Suharyanto reported this figure to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during a limited meeting on disaster management and recovery at the National Disaster Management Assistance Post in Aceh's Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base, Aceh Besar, on Sunday evening, December 7, 2025.
"We reported this nationally to you, Mr. President, from the Ministry of Public Works with a total from three provinces, the estimated required budget is this amount, Mr. President, Rp51.82 trillion," Suharyanto said, as quoted from the President's Secretariat YouTube channel.
Suharyanto stated that the budget needed to restore conditions in Aceh to their original state would require Rp25.41 trillion. As of December 7, 2025, BNPB recorded that 37,546 houses were swept away by the floods, heavily damaged, moderately damaged, and lightly damaged.
"Then bridges, roads, places of worship, schools, Islamic boarding schools, hospitals, health centers, as well as agricultural land, livestock, paddy fields, plantations, fish ponds, and offices were also affected," said Suharyanto.
Based on assessments from the Ministry of Public Works, BNPB estimated that North Sumatra would require a budget of Rp12.88 trillion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of buildings or infrastructure there. Meanwhile, West Sumatra would require a budget of Rp13.52 trillion for recovery and repairs.
Suharyanto stated that the situation in West Sumatra was improving. However, there were still two regencies that required special attention, namely Pesisir Selatan and Agam, as there were still five isolated communities and several districts.
Nevertheless, Suharyanto said that the data for this repair budget was not yet accurate and was still being continuously revised.
Suharyanto also reported that a total of 975,000 people were displaced due to the floods and landslides in Sumatra. This figure represents the total number of displaced people in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra as of December 7, 2025.
"As of today, we report 921 people dead, 392 missing, and 975,075 displaced," said Suharyanto.
Suharyanto mentioned that the highest number of displaced victims was in Aceh Province, with 914,202 people displaced. Meanwhile, 366 people died and 97 went missing in Aceh.
"For Aceh, we report that in the affected areas where the situation is still quite severe, there are two regencies, namely Aceh's Bener Meriah and Central Aceh, because hundreds of villages are still affected," said Suharyanto.
In Bener Meriah Regency, there are 232 isolated villages, and in Central Aceh, there are 295 isolated villages across 14 districts. Suharyanto mentioned that Aceh Tamiang, which was previously isolated, can now receive assistance from the ground, although the number of affected villages is still at 216.
